Chrome Extension Privacy & Single Purpose Policy
Compliance document for the Gidto Chrome Extension (Tab & Project Manager) · Official domain: gidto.com
The Gidto Chrome Extension serves a single, narrow purpose: to allow users to save, organize, and manage open browser tabs into structured projects and workspaces. It does not inject advertisements, manipulate search engine results, harvest web browsing history, or alter third-party web content.
1. Detailed Permissions Disclosure
In accordance with Google Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, every permission requested in manifest.json is strictly necessary and justified as follows:
Justification: Required to enumerate currently open tabs when you click "Save Open Tabs" or open the Default Tab Manager. This permission allows Gidto to read the title and URL of tabs you choose to stash or restore. Gidto does not run continuous background tracking or monitor un-saved tab browsing.
Justification: Grants temporary, high-privilege access to the active webpage specifically when you open the Gidto popup. This enables 1-click capture of the current tab's title and URL without requesting global web access.
Justification: Used exclusively to persist client settings (such as active project selection, protect/privacy mode toggle, and offline tab queues) on your computer via chrome.storage.local.
Justification: Required to communicate with your Gidto cloud API backend at https://gidto.com/api/save and https://gidto.com/api/me to save and synchronize your tabs.
2. Zero Remotely Hosted Code Declaration
Under Chrome Manifest V3 policy, Gidto packages 100% of its executable code inside the extension bundle distributed via the Chrome Web Store. Gidto does not download, execute, or evaluate any remote scripts, WebAssembly blobs, or dynamic eval strings at runtime.
3. User Data Selling & Telemetry Ban
We strictly adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy:
- We do not sell or license user data to data brokers, advertising networks, or third parties under any condition.
- We do not transfer user data for reasons unrelated to the single purpose of tab and workspace management.
- We do not determine creditworthiness, insurance eligibility, or lending terms using any user data.
4. How to Uninstall or Reset
You may remove the Gidto extension at any time by right-clicking the Gidto icon in your browser toolbar and selecting "Remove from Chrome...", or by visiting chrome://extensions. Removing the extension immediately deletes all local storage stored by the extension on your machine.
